Bright Hub Review - May 16, 2009

Threshold RPG received a glowing review from the technology web site Bright Hub. Some excerpts:
"Threshold RPG is a text-based MMORPG that has been in operation since June of 1996. During the last 13 years, the game has seen a lot of evolution while still remaining true to its core principals. The one thing that hasn’t changed over the years is Threshold’s dedication to the roleplaying environment. In this game, roleplaying is not an option – it’s a requirement. This makes the MMORPG very attractive to those who don’t want an intensive roleplaying situation disrupted by players uninterested in this aspect of the game."
"Threshold is definitely worth checking out, whether you’re a veteran roleplayer or someone who is just interested in giving the genre a try."

Ignite 107 Radio Interview - January 2009

Michael Hartman, the founder and lead developer of Threshold, was interviewed by Kyle Rudge of the radio station Ignite 107. Click on the graphic above for links to audio files of the entire interview. Some excerpts from what the interviewer wrote:
"I had the opportunity to speak with Michael Hartman of Frogdice Inc to talk about online roleplaying games. Admittedly, I do enjoy the odd online roleplaying game. However, there are times that I have been looked down on or questioned because of the fantasy nature of some of the content.
Before you judge it, I would ask that you take a second to step back and think about how community orientated this niche of people are. Especially in part 2 of the interview.
Frogdice Inc has created one successful online RPG called Threshold and has another in the works called Primordiax.
Given the moral and ethical nature, problems, and questions inherent in any true roleplaying game the games require you to be 18+.
Threshold is in it's 13th year of existence and still going strong. It boasts a very large player base even for a strictly text-based game. A huge world of easily over 10,000 rooms. If you like World of Warcraft, like reading, and looking for something to challenge your mind a little more than just grinding through quests to get your level 80 Rogue, maybe give it a shot."

The Mud Connector

Some excerpts from the review of Threshold done by The Mud Connector:
"After spending some time in Threshold and seeing how it worked, this is the real theme of the MUD: a true roleplaying environment with an impressive vision. This is a somewhat radical approach and does have to be emphasised to new players, but applause for Aristotle."
"Roleplay is a fundamental aspect of Threshold and is of a high standard. Players stay in role and there are plenty of plots and storylines going down."
"As to who should play Threshold, well, to some degree it would suit almost anyone... If you are an experienced MUDder this is a great place to be, I certainly really enjoyed it. I found that it had mixed up the best of many flavours of MUDs, from the serious roleplaying sort to those that focus almost exclusively on fighting to those that have lots of games."
"I would just like to write "TRY IT!" but it deserves more than that. Threshold is a really splendid MUD. It has everything and more that this style of MUD should have."

Game Commandos

Some excerpts from the review of Threshold on Game Commandos:
"Threshold is a unique multi-user roleplaying environment that is dedicated to serving a mature audience. It succeeds greatly in this endeavor as it has attracted a very devoted group of players."
"Overall, I believe Threshold is a top-notch roleplaying environment - the best I have ever seen. The total character immersion, attention to details, and mixture of roleplay with hack-and-slash and quest-solving provides continuous entertainment for those who are bored with playing the same old clone muds and want to try something original."
