While I am not perfect by any standards, I have to say something about this subject which has finally got on my last nerve today.

Getting food out of/putting food into pouches.
Giving large amounts of food or other items to someone.

When standing in a public room it's not uncommon for me to look up at the tv and come back, no more than 30 seconds later, to a whole page of people doing this.

Aside from it making me roll my eyes, it makes me wonder why I bother thinking about other people who play this game. Why do I try and be courteous when so many other people think they are quite above it?

I understand that sometimes people forget, that perhaps it wasn't done with disregard for others or admin who have mentioned this topic in the help file 'help harassment', but it is still incredibly irritating. I would rather not have to whine and pull people up on citizen but that, if nothing changes, is inevitable.

"You two are getting docked a level today."

"Whaaaa? Why!?"

"Giving things to each other and then having the gall to move it around in your inventories."

In all seriousness, yeah, it can be spammy. And yeah, item manipulation could probably be coded better to take into account quantities of things instead of making sure we were aware of each and every shot of whiskey being dropped. But it's been like this for over a decade, a stretch to try to invoke 'help harassment', and likely that you need to be a bit more tolerant of spam in public places when you go afk.

I'll add my voice to this complaint, I get spammed with anything between 20-50 lines of spam basically every single time I'm in the J4.

Kard, it's not about "being afk" and coming back to pages of whatever, it's folk getting 25 items of food from a food pouch, giving it to someone else, then that person putting it all in a pouch in the space of about 5 seconds while people are trying to hold conversations.

Yes public places generate a lot of text quickly, but most of it tends to be conversation or whatnot, it's when massive bursts of textual diarrhea fill the page when there are half a dozen booths nearby , and this happens continually by several players, that it starts to get ridiculous.

I agree that being spammed is sort of annoying. I hate when I am trying to talk to someone and stay immersed in my character and then see three random screens of whatever filler go by.

That being said, being spammed out of an occasional lack of consideration is not at all the same as being harassed.

I wasn't implying I was being harassed. The help file is the place I read information and Threshold's regards towards spamming, so I pointed it out. The name of the file had no bearing on my post.

I sometimes wonder that if a person can hit up arrow/enter a couple of times, what harm would 'booth1' or 'table1' be?

Also, I never said I was afk. I fully expect to come back to screens of text in various forms when I leave the pc for any amount of time.

This is just something I have seen from a small amount of people, repeatedly, and I was bringing it here. I never said I was being harassed, merely that people might have a little more courtesy for others that share certain areas of Threshold on a regular basis.

The point of the spamming section in 'help harassment' is because doing it deliberately IS harassment. I was pointing out that what was happening was not spam as it relates to that help file, so trying to make that association, even loosely, is inappropriate.

If I brag my trophy bag 15 times in a row to you, yeah, you could easily argue I'm harassing you. People interacting with the game world in expected ways that are unfortunately spammy, is not harassing or against the rules.

It would be like complaining that people engaged in combat with a npc in a room you happen to be in are spamming you.

Again, though, all that being said I would love item manipulation commands to allow quantities so I could:

>buy 15 sirloins
>put 15 sirloins in pouch
>drop 5 whiskey

and all you would have to see

While I can totally feel for what Thierran is trying to get across, I'll have to agree with Kard on this.

I believe it was even said before that if you can, or if you have in mind there are people around in the tavern or j4, that you could move to a booth to hand food/accessories and whatnot but sometimes people just don't really think about it, because to some it isn't a big deal.

In all honesty, your not losing or gaining anything when they do this. Unless it's happening constantly and obviously on purpose. In most RP situations, you can just quickly scroll up to respond to whatever is happening.

Oh and I totally agree with you there Kard on the command. It's not something Threshold particularly needs. It's just to make things look nicer.

In my honest opinion, it wouldn't be that difficult to simply step outside, or to a booth/table, if you need to move around that many food items. It's just annoying to have to see that many lines of useless text, when typing ONE extra command saves everyone the headache.

And Thierran? I totally agree with you here. However, the last time I brought it to Citizen, the person simply said "I could do it again if you'd like."

It's not the first time this has been requested, and won't be the last. All it takes is stepping outside the tavern before you stuff the food in your pouch (most of the people who do this are just running in, getting supplies, running out anyway), and if you're giving heaps of stuff to someone, it's not hard to ask them to a booth/table/outside. The one situation that really doesn't have any current solution is dropping drinks (usually) on the ground for public consumption - especially if you get someone 'drop all' with maybe a hundred. Doubly annoying if someone typos and hits their "get all" alias... and then, of course, has to drop the stuff again. Kard's suggestion of "drop 5 whiskey" would solve that one (hope it's not problematic to the code, which currently tries to interpret "whiskey" as a type of coin... Rum Rebellion, anyone?); alternatively, it'd be neat if Emi could sell ale by the case (after all, 24 ales in a box, 24 hours in a day) from which you can "get ale" to snag yourself a drink. Kinda like a whiskey flask only they're all still in their tankards.

Feel free to tear the idea to shreds, it's a 5AM idea a few minutes early.

That particular incident sounds like harassment and I, personally, would report it.
